New Zealand: the southern island

A blog about New Zealand… Honestly I don’t even know where to start. People that have been there probably know: New Zealand is special. It;s the perfect place for a road trip and every few hours of driving brings you to a completely different place. There are modern cities, small townships, tropical bays, stunning lakes, high mountains with eternal snow and these awesome glaciers you can walk on.

Our route on the southern island: Christchurch – Akaroa – Mt Cook – Otago Peninsula / Dunedin – The Catlins – Cardrona – Fox Glacier – Punakaiki – Kaikoura – Motueka / Abel Tasman & Picton.

I only brought my analog Nikon F90x to take photos. Shooting film and only bringing one camera while I travel is the best thing. The simplicity of it makes it much easier to not get caught up in the capturing part, but to really experience the trip. Like I said, New Zealand is awesome and I can’t wait to show you these pictures!

With many thanks to Riksja Travel for helping us plan the perfect trip, and all of our awesome hosts on the Southern Island: The Olive Grove, Aoraki Court Motel, Portobello village tourist park, Greenwood farm, The Cardrona Hotel, Lake Matheson Motel, Nikau Treehouse Punakaiki, The Point B&B, Edens Edge Lodge, Anchor Down B&B.
