Looking back on 2018

I write a recap blogpost at the end of each year and while it may be a really cliché thing to do, I enjoy it so much! I enjoy reading those of others as well, to read about their progress, their thoughts, learnings: it’s fascinating how much can happen in a year, and how people continue to grow year after year.

And what a year it has been.. it was full of highs, lows, laughter, tears and so much more.

Workwise: a lot has changed. I went from 25(+) weddings a year, to 13. A choice that turned out to be a very good one: I had so much more time to enjoy my favorite season (the summer), could photograph the weddings I had with more ease and energy ánd it opened up time for other things.

Like the Confetti Collective: a Dutch, online platform that I lead, together with my dear friend Elsa. We: the platform and us both grew so much, and got to help so many entrpeneurs grow their business. It’s an amazing feeling to help them and we have some amazing things planned for 2019.

One thing you might not be aware of that I also did last year was selling prints of my travel photography. I opened up my own print shop, tried Etsy but in the end chose another route. My travel photography now sells as prints on Kolla and Society 6.

I got to travel a lot: Stockholm, Cologne, Belgium, 3 trips to Morocco, Norway, Porto, the Provence, Italy, Barcelona, and Ireland were all on the schedule and we also started planning our world trip for 2020. But among these great things, there we some though times too. I overworked myself quite a bit and was forced to take a step back. Painful, but also an experience from which I learned a lot. Should you have no idea what I’m talking about, you can read more about it here and here. Two months later, my dad had to have a big open heart surgery, and we faced some challenging times together as a family. He’s doing good concerning the circumstances, so in the end there is a lot to be thankful for.

And with that feeling, I’m celebrating the old and the new year tonight. I can’t wait to start the year fresh and to see what 2019 will bring. Thanks for reading this all the way till the end 😉 – please let me know what your year was like down below or on Instagram, and have an awesome night tonight!
