New Zealand: the Northern Island

After part 1 of New Zealand, today I’m sharing the second part of our most recent adventure. After exploring the south island we took the ferry from Picton to Wellington. We chose this direction of traveling (south to north) because we wanted to end with the subtropical Bay of Plenty and Bay of Islands, which would be the more relaxing part of our holiday. With the rest of the month being rather active, unwinding for the last couple of days was absolutely perfect.

Our route on the northern island: Plimmerton – Tongariro – Rotorua – Hahei (Bay of Plenty) – Kaeo (Bay of Islands) – Auckland.

With many thanks to Riksja Travel for helping us plan the perfect trip, and all of our awesome hosts on the Southern Island: Chateau Tongariro, Rainforest experiences, The Church Hahei, Kahoe Farm Hostel & Bavaria B&B Hotel Auckland.
